How are our pieces made?
Our pieces are made to last and produced in our workshop in Caen. This page explains the materials we use, why we chose them, and sets out their limits.

PLA
We mainly use PLA, a bioplastic derived from plant resources such as corn starch. This bio-based material has a smaller footprint than petroleum plastics: it takes little energy to transform and does not depend on fossil resources.
Parts that must stay watertight are printed in PETG. That is the case for the inside of the pot covers and for the vase insert.
What PLA does not do
To answer that limit, we make two concrete commitments.

Design objects people keep. Singular, non-standardised pieces you do not tire of after a season. How long an object lasts matters more than what it is made of.

Take them back at end of life. Returned pieces are ground down in the workshop and the material goes back into prototyping. That is the Second life programme, and it earns you a voucher.
Making without pointless stock
We work with techniques that allow short-circuit making, without overproduction. The process stays agile: we remain close to the object to adjust it, test it and refine it at every stage.
In practice, a piece can be corrected between two runs without scrapping a mould or clearing a stock. That is what makes a wide range of colours possible on a small production.
Continuous research
3D printing is a doorway to freer, more controlled and more local making. The studio experiments with other materials and other techniques, from bioplastic to wood, with the wish to bring out objects that are both expressive and respectful of their environment.
Care
A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough. Avoid prolonged exposure to heat and damp for pieces in PLA.
The choice of material shows in the finished object: the trace of the layers, the density of the flat colours, the way each object catches the light.
